Today was my last official day as superintendent at Centre USD #397. It has been a great four years since coming to Centre and I would like to first of all thank the students for being great to work with. My students have always been my main focus since I started teaching way back in 1979 at Minneapolis High School. Centre has some of the greatest students I have ever worked with, and I thank them for letting me be a part of their educational journey. Secondly, I want to thank the teachers and staff at Centre. USD 397 is truly blessed with some of the finest I have ever worked with. Rarely does one find such a dedicated team of educators that work so hard to give each student the best possible opportunities to succeed. Lastly, I want to thank the patrons and parents who have let me be a part of the Centre family. Centre has a proud tradition, and I was blessed to be a part of that tradition. I know I didn't always make everyone happy, but I genuinely strived to always do what was best for our students. I am ending a wonderful 43-year educational journey that has seen heart breaks, but also an abundance of joy. Thank you again for allowing me to be a part of the Centre tradition of great education. God Bless.

We've been asked where to send donations for the family of Nathaniel Haney, Centre fourth grade student, who was killed in a car accident last Saturday and this is what we received from Nathaniel's grandfather.: Anybody that wants to make a donation to The Dawn Peel, Nathaniel Haney, or Peggy Sutton fund can do so at Central National Bank through My daughter Lela McIntire's Savings account. Any donations will have to be made out to Lela McIntire in form of check or a cash deposit. Thank you everyone.

Parents and Guardians, Many of you may have already heard that Nathaniel Haney, a fourth-grade student at Centre Elementary was killed in a tragic care accident last Saturday afternoon, along with his mother, Dawn Peel and his great-grandmother. Nathaniel had just completed the third grade this last year after transferring from Herington at the beginning of the year. Nathaniel had was the older brother of Centre Kindergarten student Matthew, who survived the accident. Matthew was released from the hospital in Wichita today and is being looked after by his grandparents who also live in Herington. Hillary and I will be available tomorrow evening from 5:00-6:30 in the Centre Library to talk with any students, parents, or staff members that may need to talk to someone. Please keep Matthew and his family, classmates, and his friends in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. Posted as
