Yesterday, the freshmen did an activity with Mrs. McMichael. The activity is called “Land mine” and they were split into four groups. Each group had an area they had to successfully assist a blind folded person to the finish line with “land mines” within the area. The groups had to work together as a team and effectively communicate with each other. Part of the group had to stay at the start line and talk one blindfolded person through the area without hitting any “land mines” or they would have to start over.
This activity makes you work with different people who have different communication styles and show you how you like to be talked to and how you talk to others. This is an activity that tests people’s ability to trust each other and communicate accurately. The group did awesome!

Here are the events for this week!

The State of Kansas is encouraging families to apply for the Kansas Education Enrichment Program.
Kansas Education Enrichment Program (KEEP) (ks.gov)
KEEP Highlights
Parents and guardians who earn 300% or less than the Federal Poverty Guidelines (for example, $90,000/year for a family of 4) may qualify to receive $1,000 per student to pay for a variety of educational goods and services, including:
School supplies and various technology (each student may purchase one laptop or tablet)
Tutoring services
Clubs, camps, or after-school classes related to academic/school curriculum
Language classes
Instrument and vocal lessons, including instrument purchase or rental
Other non-credit classes
Tuition and School Fees are not eligible KEEP expenses.
There is no cost to apply for or participate in the program, and parents and guardians can enroll all children ages 6 to 18 in their households. Children already enrolled in SNAP automatically qualify for the award, and foster children are exempt from the income limits.
Organizations can also apply to become Qualified Education Service Providers and help Kansas families spend their KEEP funds on enrichment programs!
