Centre is one of five schools in the state receiving the Kansas Department of Agriculture's Skills and Competencies Certificate. According to Kansas Agriculture, a total of 25 students are receiving the award. The award goes to students who have completed requirements in the areas of classroom instruction, supervised agricultural experience, and FFA. They have demonstrated excellence in agricultural knowledge, career readiness, and leadership development. Students must also maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher in all school courses to earn the certification. Centre Students: Jenna Bittle, Leah Brunner, Karsen Kroupa, Jenaya Plett, Emilee Remmers, Isabel Rzhia, Allie Stuchlik, and Payton Svitak all received the awards. Centre is very proud of the fact that 8 of the 25 students recognized for this outstanding achievement are from our FFA group! What an outstanding achievement. The Centre FFA is led my sponsors Jon Meiers and Emma Jacobson.

Today we said goodbye to several staff members at Centre who have been a positive influence on our students. Mary Miller taught business classes and also ran the PERK over the last five years. Mary has retired from teaching and has accepted a payroll officer position in Wichita, which will be much closer to her home in Andover. Megan Wheeler has served as our Special Education Teacher at the junior high level for the past two years and is being transferred to Marion Elementary next year. Katelynn Hagemann has served as our Special Education Social Worker for the last three years and will be working for Prairie View Mental Health as a social worker beginning next year. Mary Havel took over the 9-12 English Language Arts teacher the last two years and will be spending more time with her family. We are very thankful for the time and dedication they have given our students. We wish them the best in their future endeavors.
