Special Board Meeting Notice

Centre's Junior High and High School students orr parents who are not currently in quarantine, can come up to the school at any time today to pick up supplies, homework, books, and instruments for the next couple weeks. Teachers and staff have worked hard this morning to gather up everything that we think that your student will need in the next couple weeks of remote learning. Please either call when you drive up to the school or ring the doorbell, and we will be glad to bring the supplies to you. Students who are not currently in quarantine will be allowed to come into the building and clean out their gym lockers if they have one.

If your student at Centre is learning remotely, they are still eligible for free breakfast and lunch. They will sign up remotely with their first hour class as they remote in for the day. We are unable to deliver meals at this time, as our school waiver does not provide for that service. Meals can be picked up curbside at 11:45 each morning. We ask that if you do sign up, please make sure to pick up the meals so that food does not go to waste.

This is the Centre class bell schedule for 6th thru 12th grades. As students remote in, please remind them to be prompt. They are expected to remote in each and every class period.

Athletic practices and games are cancelled until students return to school.

November 12, 2020 – This message pertains to students in Grades 6-12
Centre Parents and Students:
A special Centre Board meeting was held this evening concerning the increase in Covid-19 symptoms experienced among our students. In our effort to provide safety to all and gain time to mitigate the spread of virus, the Centre Board of Education voted to move JH/HS classes to a remote learning delivery model, beginning on Monday, November 16th thru November 30th, 2020. Tomorrow, Friday, November 13th, will be a non-school day for 6th -12th grade.
Mrs. Terri Bina will contact students to get a list of items, books, supplies, and resources needed for learning. At that time, Mrs. Bina will also provide a time for parents/students to pick-up the items at curbside in front of the school.
The board will reconvene on Monday, November 30th, to re-assess the level of risk for students.
Elementary classes, grades PreK-5, will continue face to face instruction at Centre School.
We appreciate your cooperation in this matter and wish you good health.
Please contact Mr. Siebert, High School Principal, at tsiebert@usd397.com or at 785-983-4321 and or Mrs. Beeson at sbeeson@usd397.com or at 785-983-4321.
Thank you and have a good evening!
Mrs. Beeson & Mr. Siebert

There will be a special board meeting tonight, November 12th, 2020, at 5 pm.

In an effort to keep everyone safe, Centre Jr./Sr. High School has decided to limit fans to only two fans per player and coach this basketball season. Tickets will also be handed out to students. In order to attend the game, you must have a ticket. Please see the below revisions for indoor fan attendance.
Due to fans being limited, games in the Main Gym will be streamed on NFHS Network.
Here is the website: https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/schools/centre-high-school-lost-springs-ks.
Subscriptions cost $10.99 per month in order to stream any Cougar event that takes place in the Main Gym. You can also choose a yearly subscription for $64.99. Game schedules may look a little different from previous years to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. For instance, the JH boys will be playing in the Main Gym on November 16, and the girls will use the Main Gym on November 23. The schedule may also change due to a lack of officials because of the pandemic. Make sure to check back for more information on the school website and Facebook page.

School picture retakes at Centre are on Friday, November 13th. We will begin at 8:30 in the morning. If you need a picture packet for your student, please call the school office at 785-983-4321 or have your student stop by tomorrow and pick one up.

The Josten's representative will be at Centre on Thursday, November 12th to take orders for Sophomore Class rings and Senior graduation products. This time to order will take place at 12:30 PM. Please make sure that your students have their order form and payment with them. This will be the only time where class rings and senior products can be ordered at school with the representative here to help you. Order forms were sent home with students last week.

If you have a student who is in quarantine and will be remoting in for the next two weeks, we are gathering up their books and supplies so that they can have it to remote from home. Their items will be available to be picked up between 2:00 and 4:00 today. Please call and let us know that you are outside the door and we will bring the items to you.

Centre Parents and Students:
Today, we have learned 2 Centre High School students received confirmed positive Covid-19 results. Due to this information, 25 students are identified as direct contacts and will move to remote learning for 14 days. Parents of those students will be contacted today.
If you are someone who did not receive a contact today from an administrator or office personnel, your student is allowed to return to Centre School for face to face classes tomorrow, Tuesday, November 10, 2020. Buses will run the regular routes.
Our Food Service Program is now an option for remote learning students, and meals can be available as early as tomorrow. The process used to order lunch for the current day and breakfast for the following morning: the regular homeroom teacher will take lunch count during the first-hour class, and lunch will be available for pick up curbside outside the school's front door at 11:45 AM the same day.
TRANSPORTATION will be needed as we have a waiver for on-site pick-up, only at this time.
Thanks to all for your patience with our precautionary efforts to provide safety to all! Your flexibility and cooperation are vital to our navigation through this time of unknowns.
Thank you.

Due to a parental report of a confirmed positive case of Covid-19, of a High School student who went home ill on Friday, we are canceling face to face classes and expecting students to remote into classes throughout the day on Monday.
We will seek guidance from Diedre Serene, RN at the Marion County Health Dept., tomorrow to guide our planning for the remaining days of the week. Last week, Diedre advised me, "a direct contact is anyone who is in contact with a positive individual, 2 days prior to the day of the positive result". Meaning - Count forward 2 days prior to the day of the positive result to determine who may be a direct contact requiring quarantine.
As we gain additional information, I will keep you informed as to how we will progress.
