Centre USD #397 is collecting donations to help with the funeral expenses and medical expenses of two students who were involved in a tragic vehicle accident Monday evening, December 4. We appreciate your generous support at this difficult time. Donations can be made at Tampa State Bank, Tampa, Cottonwood Valley Bank, Lincolnville, Barnes Grocery, Herington, or the District Office. There will also be collection jars at the home basketball games next week. A correction on the initial post of sending checks to the Central Office. We sere informed we could not accept checks made out to the school district for this cause. We will let you know how you can get funds to us at the school. Thank you for your generosity.

It is with a heavy heart I inform you that Michelle Brasch, a senior at Centre High School was killed in a traffic accident outside of Marion last night. We have had counselors from surrounding schools here this morning to help our team of Social Workers, teachers, and staff help our students and each other through this tragic time. Dwayne Moenning was injured in the accident and is in a Wichita Hospital in critical but stable condition. Our thoughts and prayers go out to both families during this very difficult time.

Because Ms. Harms has tested positive for COVID-19 and cannot return to school until next week, the decision has been made to move the P-12 Christmas Concert from Monday, December 4th, to Thursday, December 14th at 7:00 PM. The junior high basketball game start time will be moved to 4:00 in order to get the games over with by 6:30 and give us time to set up for the concert. Thank you for your understanding and we wish Ms. Harms a speedy recovery.

Because of the dangerous condition of many or our roads in the district, I have decided to cancel school at Centre for tomorrow, Monday, November 27th. Several of the roads on our bus routes have not been cleared yet, making them dangerous to drive on. School will resume at the usual time Tuesday morning. Thank you and have a good evening.
