Because of the large number of students and staff being out, I am canceling school tomorrow, January 31. I am hoping getting everyone away from each other for a few days will help stop the spread of the illnesses going around. The high school basketball games against Canton Galva have also been canceled.

Centre Band Parents: If your child has not brought home a permission slip to attend the Boston Brass Masterclass at McPherson College tomorrow during the school day, please send a note to school with insurance information saying they may attend. Your child will need a school sack lunch, a sack lunch of their own, or money for lunch in McPherson.

24 basketball games in three days! That's what Centre High School hosts every year in our Cougar Classic. This is by no means a small undertaking. It takes a great deal of planning and lots of people pitching in to make it the successful tournament every year. Special thanks to our AD's Kelly Steiner and Tim Vinduska for all the planning and coordination they put into the tournament each year. Our Centre faculty and staff step up every year to make our tournament possible from taking gate, working the clock, keeping the score book, assigning locker rooms, and making sure everything runs smoothly. Cudos to Amy Carlson and her entrepreneur class for keeping the concession stand stocked and running, ( and Marianne Kohman for the extra trips to SAMS). Pam and Richard Idleman with their IServe crew makes sure the building is looking great and even bringing the snow removal people back to clear more parking spaces after the huge snow we had. Marissa Makovec always puts on the best Hospitality Room in the area. Weeks last last week make it easy to be extremely proud to be part of Centre USD #397. Thank you to the workers, fans and patrons for another outstanding Cougar Classic!
